We’ve heard Christmas trees are moving fast this year and that many buyers haven’t had a live tree in the house for a while. So with that in mind, what do you do after purchase to ensure the best results from this year’s holiday icon? Extension advice includes putting the fresh tree in water as soon as you get it home. Then, cut about an inch off the base perpendicular to the stem. Make sure the tree stand you have is of sufficient size for the tree you’ve bought. Also, add about a quart of water for every inch diameter at the base. Finally, store your tree in a cool area of your house rather than placing it near a window or fireplace where heat or sunlight can dry it out faster.
