EAST LANSING, MI — The long-time public address announcer for Michigan State University athletic events has passed away. Terry Braverman died last Thursday at his winter home in Florida at the age of 86, according to a Facebook post by his family.
Braverman was perhaps best known for his iconic call “It’s a beautiful day for football” at Spartan Stadium on fall Saturdays in East Lansing.
The following post from Braverman’s family appeared on Facebook. It is printed here in it’s entirety:
When Twilight Silence Falls”
On behalf of the Terry W. Braverman family, and with heavy but grateful hearts, we share that Terry passed away on Thursday, March 6 after nearly a year of battling multiple myeloma. Known affectionately – and by many – over the years as TB, T, Pops, Uncle Terry, or just Dad, he lived as full a life in his 86 years as one can imagine, leaving behind countless stories, laughs, memories, good (and bad) jokes, Sinatra albums, friends, and a vast assortment of fishing tackle at the bottom of northern Ontario lakes.
Our family is still processing this news and gathering at his “winter home” in Florida to make plans and other arrangements. We will share those as they round into shape. But we also know there are scores of people across Michigan, the East Lansing area, Florida, Canada, and all points between who knew and loved him, so we wanted to share this now.
With much love,
Gail, Doug, Chris, and Lindsey
