KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — They celebrated Halloween in the halls at Bronson Children’s Hospital. Each year, dozens of Bronson employees from departments all over the institution volunteer to dress in costume and deliver goodies to the bedsides of young patients, who might miss the holiday otherwise.
Many of the patients dress up too and still get the trick or treating experience they might miss otherwise. It also gives the staff a chance to show off their costumes.
Wendy Kellogg, child life specialist says. “They get to see a part of Bronson that they might not interact with every day. They love to be a part of bringing joy to our young patients.”
Trish McPherson, whose daughter Elizabeth has been in the hospital for a month said “My daughter loves Halloween and this is a huge morale booster,” She says. “She can’t get around to trick-or-treat so this is fantastic. We are so, so excited.”
