COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A new fire truck will be purchased for the Comstock Township Fire and Rescue Department after three crashes since November damaged several of their vehicles.
Fire Chief Matt Beauchamp says they were very lucky that two firefighters suffered only minor injuries in the December crash of a box truck into three fire department vehicles on I-94.

Audio PlayerThe new truck will replace the one that was totaled in that December crash and is expected to cost between $1.1 and $1.2 million, with over $950,000 coming from insurance.
The department was also approved to add four full-time firefighters by the township board.
