KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — It’s the time of the year when drivers like to warm up their cars before getting in, but doing so can pose a great risk.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officers are seeing a significant increase in vehicle thefts over the past few weeks because owners are leaving their cars running and unlocked in the driveway.
They released a list of tips to make sure you don’t become a victim of a vehicle theft:
1. Never leave your vehicle running unattended2. Lock your doors and leave windows up3. Don’t leave valuables where easily visible4. Park in secure, well-lit areas
Overall officers say residents should always practice good crime-prevention techniques.
