KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – If you’re looking for that special touch for your Christmas cards, the Kalamazoo Stamp Club in conjunction with the Nazareth Post Office have just the thing. It’s the annual special cancellation of Christmas cards at the Nazareth Post Office on Gull Road in Kalamazoo.
Customers dropping off their Christmas cards at the Nazareth Post Office can request the special hand stamped cancellation, which is placed on the envelope by volunteers from the Kalamazoo Stamp Club. This year’s cancellation is depicted above with a stable and a rising star. The cancellation was designed by the Kalamazoo Pen Dragons Calligraphy Guild.
The program has been popular with the local community as well as internationally, with requests for the Christmas cancellation. The cancelled Christmas cards are then mailed out from the Nazareth Post Office. It is being offered from December 1-December 23 this year.
The Nazareth Post Office receives between 35,000 and 55,000 Christmas cards for the special cancellation every season.
The city of Nazareth in northern Israel is the believed to the childhood home of Jesus, and is now a center of Christian pilgramage.
