OSHTEMO (WKZO AM/FM) — The family has identified the victim of that hit and run crash on 9th Street late last Saturday night as Edward Howell Jr. of Gobles. Kalamazoo County Deputies say he was struck from behind and killed as he walked along the five lane roadway that links Oshtemo with I-94.
An analysis of the debris and a rearview mirror broken off when Howell was struck has identified the vehicle as a black 2007 or 2008 Pontiac Torrent, a midsized SUV.
They say it would have suffered front end damage to the passenger side. They are still seeking help from the public to find the vehicle and identify the driver.
Now that they know the make and model, they may also be able to use license registrations to track local owners.
