COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A greenhouse in Comstock Township is planning to provide housing to dozens of migrant workers, but some nearby residents are not happy.
Starting next month, Wenke Greenhouses will house 34 employees from other countries for temporary agricultural work.
It was a full house at the Comstock Township board meeting Monday as some residents voiced their concerns.
Owner Lisa Wenke Ambrosio says that the main reason for the move is because they can’t find local people to take the jobs.
But local residents say they fear for their property values and their safety.
The workers are being brought in under a federal program and Wenke Greenhouses plans to build more housing on their property this coming year.
