KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Few governmental bodies have seen a bigger impact from this fall’s “Blue Wave” than the Kalamazoo County Commission.
This year the board had six Democrats and five Republicans. In two weeks it will have eight Democrats and just three Republicans.
The new board was given the oath of office Tuesday evening, but won’t assume office until January first.
While they won’t pick new leaders until their first meeting in January, the Democratic Caucus has nominated Julie Rogers to serve as Chair and Tracy Hall as vice-chair, foregoing the practice of the last few boards which had one Democrat and one Republican serve in the Leadership positions.
It may be the first sign that it’s a new day in County Government.
