KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The city of Kalamazoo is encouraging residents to take part in the annual Community-Wide Day of Service on Monday, January 20 to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Monday is the national Martin Luther King Jr. Day to celebrate the life and legacy of the civil rights leader, and Congress designated the holiday as a “Day On, Not a Day Off.”

In Kalamazoo, Gryphon Place will coordinate volunteers and volunteer opportunities, and people can register at go.gryphon.org.
Mayor David Anderson will welcome volunteers with a breakfast at Mayors’ Riverfront Park from 8 to 8:30 a.m. before the community service begins.
Community members will meet at the Metro Transit Building at 530 North Rose Street starting at 3:45 p.m. for a commemorative walk to Martin Luther King Jr. Park at 507 North Rose Street for a wreath-laying ceremony at 4:15 p.m.
