KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A teenager is in stable condition is stable condition after being shot while sitting in a parked car in Kalamazoo Friday afternoon.
At approximately 3:15 p.m., Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to the 400 block of Reed Avenue for a report of shots fired. As officers were checking the area, dispatch received a call from an area emergency room reporting that a victim had arrived.
The victim, a 17 year old Kalamazoo man, said that he was sitting inside a parked car when he was suddenly struck by gunfire. The suspect left in an unknown direction. Based on the information provided by the victim, officers located the shooting scene and recovered evidence of the crime. As of this time, the suspect has not been located or identified.
The shooting victim is being treated, and is in stable condition.
