MARENGO TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Two dogs were saved from a burning home in Calhoun County’s Marengo Township late Saturday afternoon.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Marengo Township Fire Department when the blaze was reported at about 5:13 p.m. at a residence in the 22000 block of H Drive North.
A concerned citizen reported reported flames were visible from a window and the caller heard sound of dogs barking inside.
Heavy smoke and flames were coming from the house when deputies arrived.
Two vehicles were found in the driveway, but no human occupants were found found inside.
Deputies rescued two dogs from the home before evacuating.
Marengo Township Fire Department personnel arrived shortly after. They also found no one inside.
Assisting agencies included the Michigan State Police, Marshall Township Fire Department, Albion Township Fire Department, Albion Community Ambulance, and the Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority.
