UNDATED (WKZO-AM) — Following another disappointing holiday sales season, Macy’s and the firm that now owns Sears and K-Mart have announced more store closings.
Some of them will close stores in Michigan but Kalamazoo’s stores will be spared.
The Macy’s outlets at the Lakeview Square Mall in Battle Creek and at the Lansing Mall will be among the 4 statewide and 68 nationwide that will have liquidation sales and lock their doors for good this year.
No more blue-light specials in Muskegon after a K-Mart in that community will be one of 78 shuttering their doors this year, and the Sears at the Woodland Mall in Kent County will be one of 42-Sears outlets that will be eliminated nationwide.
Their parent companies hope to recover some of the losses by selling off the properties. The closures will result in the loss of dozens if not hundreds of jobs in Michigan and thousands nationwide.
