JACKSON (WKZO-AM) — Windy conditions have triggered scattered power outages throughout the western Lower Peninsula.
Gusts of up to 40 and 50 mph were reported last night.
There are smaller outages scattered all over the place and more of them appeared as the night progressed. The wind has died down now and the number of outages has begun to decline rapidly.
Still Consumers says that many of the outages will not be addressed until sometime this evening and it may take longer for the most remote problems.
These are small pockets of just a few homes or areas that cover rural neighborhoods. Most of them are due to downed branches taking out powerlines.
Road crews in Allegan were using their plow trucks to shove fallen limbs and trees off roadways. That could be a danger this morning and drivers should be careful to watch for fallen limbs as they make their way to work in the dark.
