KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The holidays are a special time for most kids, but not all children.
It can be a tough time for low income and homeless families.
That is especially true for children who depend on the school system for their meals. During the winter break, schools aren’t in session. Kalamazoo Public Schools trustee Patti Sholler-Barber says it can be a very challenging time for them.
Trustee Carol McGlinn says there are inexpensive ways to enjoy the holidays.
Santa has set up a workshop at the Radisson Plaza, and New Year’s Eve, there will be a noon balloon drop at the Air Zoo.
New Year’s Fest is back this year with 70 performances from acts of all kinds at venues around Bronson Park and the ball drop and fireworks at midnight.
