KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — New Western Michigan University head football coach Tim Lester has been introduced to the community and the fan base, appearing at a Saturday morning news conference and then introducing himself at a Broncos basketball game and the hockey games Saturday evening.
He says his coaching style may be a little less energetic than the frenetic style of his predecessor but it’s no less heartfelt and sincere when it comes to the welfare of the players or the love of the community.
Lester started as the team’s quarterback in the late 1990s, leading the team to a Mid-American Conference championship game, and serving for a period as an assistant coach. He introduced his wife and three of his four children at the news conference Saturday and said they are all looking forward to living in Kalamazoo, saying it’s been their dream for some time.
