HARTFORD TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan State Police troopers are investigating the murder of a 35-year-old Watervliet man.
He was found dead Saturday shortly before 7 a.m. in the 66000 block of 70th Street in Hartford Township when they responded to a shots fired complaint.
The suspect had already left the scene by the time troopers arrived, but he was determined to be a 31-year-old man from South Bend.
Troopers say the two were in a physical fight when the suspect allegedly fired the shots at the victim.
The suspect was arrested in Fort Wayne, Indiana within 12 hours.
He is in the Allen County Jail in Indiana awaiting extradition on several charges, including homicide.
Michigan State Police will not release his name until he is arraigned, but 31-year-old Dominique Mack was arrested in Fort Wayne after a standoff on Saturday afternoon and Fort Wayne police say he is the suspect in a homicide in Michigan.
Troopers say the shooting was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the general public.
