ST. JOSEPH COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — A teenager wanted on several warrants and driving on a suspended license Wednesday evening made the mistake of trying to outrun police St. Joseph County Deputies and now he is sitting in a jail cell waiting to face a list of new charges.
The 18-year-old male from Constantine was caught speeding on Riverside drive during the dinner hour, but rather than respond to the deputy trying to pull him over, he bolted with the cruiser in hot pursuit.
After an attempt to outrun the Deputy, they say the teenager went off-road into a field to try to shake the pursuing squad cars.
Police say the fleeing teen then cut through the yards of several homes, leaving damage in his wake.
The car then got hung up on several small trees and the teen attempted to flee on foot.
He was tracked down hiding in the back yard of a home on Oxbow Lane by a K-9 from the White Pigeon Police Department.
Now the 18-year-old faces fleeing and eluding charges, resisting police, destruction of property and driving on a suspended license, in addition to the other charges he faces.
