PAW PAW, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The commander of the Michigan State Police Paw Paw post has graduated from the FBI National Academy.
First Lieutenant Scott Ernstes graduated this week as a member of the 292nd session of the academy and is a Paw Paw native.
His class had men and women from 48 states, Washington, DC, and Guam along with 27 countries, eight military organizations, and five federal civilian organizations.
The National Academy offers eleven weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. People need to have proven records as professionals in their agencies to attend.
On average, officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and normally return to the agencies to serve in executive-level posts.
There have been 55,797 graduates of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia since it began in 1935.
Ernstes has a master’s degree from Western Michigan University in public administration and lives in Kalamazoo with his wife and their two children.
