KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — GasBuddy.com says there likely won’t be a huge gas price jump in Michigan to end the week, but they are urging drivers to brace themselves for a spike.
Analyst Patrick DeHaan said 45-to-60-cent increases will likely be seen in Ohio and Indiana, particularly in cities where warring stations are selling fuel at a loss.
“Competition is great when you’re filling the tank,” DeHaan said. “But, when gas stations get on the right side of selling gasoline, it’s going to seem like a really big increase.”
He’s still expecting Michigan stations to adjust a dime or two higher by Sunday.
“We’re closing in now on a month of gas prices dropping,” DeHaan said.
The average price for a gallon of regular Thursday afternoon was $2.14 in Kalamazoo, $2.20 in Grand Rapids and $2.16 in Lansing.
