LANSING, MI — Lansing’s oldest charity is celebrating 100 years of giving back. The Old Newsboys of Greater Lansing will be on the street this Thursday with their orange jugs and orange vest selling copies of the Lansing Spoof Journal.
Proceeds from the newspaper’s sales directly benefit kids in need across the Lansing community, providing them with shoes and boots. On Average, the organization helps over 7,000 kids in the area and that number continues to grow, according to officials. The group says it has been putting boots and shoes on the feet of children since 1924.
The Old Newsboys is hoping to raise $200,000 this year. The Lansing Spoof Journal officially goes on sale on Dec. 5.
