BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — One person had to be hospitalized for smoke inhalation after a mattress caught fire at a two-story multiple family residence on Lathrop Avenue in Battle Creek.
Firefighters saw smoke coming from the second story of the structure after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The victim sheltered in place in a bedroom until she could be rescued.
Total damage was estimated at $5,000.
