KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It’s beginning to look a little like Christmas. We saw our first snow yesterday, and Bronson Park decorations are mostly up.
The holiday season will officially kick off tomorrow when Santa comes to town to participate in the Maple Hill Holiday Parade in downtown Kalamazoo.
Mayor Dave Anderson says it’s the 62nd year for the event, which features floats, fire trucks, bands and of course the big balloons.
Kalamazoo Public Schools trustee Jennie Hill says they will also be well represented.
In fact, 10 bands will be marching in the parade.
After the parade, Mr. and Mrs. Claus will been meeting with the children, stores and restaurants will be open and other events are planned.
It kicks off at 11 a.m. Saturday and will follow the usual route down Lovell, to Park, to Michigan, to Pitcher, and back to Lovell.
If you can’t make it downtown, the event will be live streamed on Public Media Network.
The city of Kalamazoo’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will be next Friday starting at 5 p.m.
