KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The city of Kalamazoo has scheduled its Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony for next Friday, November 29 in Bronson Park from 5 to 7 p.m.
The park will be lit around 6 p.m. and the Holly Jolly Trolley will offer free rides through downtown from 5 to 9 p.m.
There will be music, dance performances, a kids craft tent provided by Kalamazoo Valley Museum a “sElfie” station with holiday themed stand-ins, a gingerbread-themed tent for photos, and visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
The event will be emceed by Kalamazoo Promise executive director of community relations Von Washington Jr. and Santa will read the poem “Holiday Season in Kalamazoo” before flipping the switch to light up Bronson Park.
The city adds that South Street will be closed by the park on the day of the event starting at 1 p.m. The street will be open only to staff, the Holly Jolly Trolley, and Kalamazoo Civic traffic. The street is expected to reopen around 7 p.m. This event is free, and all community members are welcome.
