KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — An intoxicated driver is being blamed for causing a violent collision at a Kalamazoo intersection that sent two to the hospital and could send one of them to jail.
Public Safety Lt. Sean Gordon says that a car driven by a 46-year-old man blew through a stop sign at the intersection of Mt. Olivet and Riverview just after 5 p.m. yesterday and struck a car driven by a 35-year-old woman.
Both cars were heavily damaged.
She suffered hip injuries and has been admitted to Borgess Medical Center.
Her 3-year-old child, who was strapped in the back seat, was uninjured.
The male driver was believed to be drunk and under the influence of drugs and will be arrested once he is treated and healthy enough to be transported to jail. His current condition is not known.
