PAW PAW (WKZO-AM)– A Van Buren County man charged in the cold case murder of Charles Miller will have to wait until next week to find out if he will be spending the rest of his life in prison.
Guy Carl Simpson was one of three suspects charged with luring Miller out into a secluded area in Van Buren County, on a false pretext, and then shooting him and burying his body in a shallow grave.
Simpson tried to argue that he was not an active participant in the killing, but both the other two men charged and convicted in the murder testified for the prosecution and against Simpson, who represented himself during the trial.
Closing arguments and final instructions came Friday. The Jury deliberated for a short while at the end of the day, and will return Monday to try and reach a verdict.
