KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A project that would widen the westbound ramp from I-94 to northbound U.S. 131 to accommodate a second lane of traffic is being proposed for 2026 by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
The plan would also expand about 1.5 miles of northbound U.S. 131 to create a continuous auxiliary ramp lane from I-94 to Stadium Drive. Currently, there are only two lanes through that area.
A meeting about potential noise associated with the project is slated for Wednesday, November 20 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Kalamazoo Transportation Service Center, 5372 S. Ninth Street.
MDOT officials says a traffic noise study was recently completed to help them make decisions on the proposed project.
