CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Republicans swept the five contest Calhoun County Commissioner races in Tuesday’s election.
The winners were Dominic Oo in the first district, Al Morehart in the third district, Dan Strowbridge in the fourth district, Matthew Saxton in the sixth district and Gary Tompkins in the seventh district.
Republicans Steve Frisbie in the 44th district and incumbent Sarah Lightner in the 45th district were elected to the State House as the G.O.P. took control of that chamber.
Elected as Battle Creek City Commissioners at Large were Paige Katsarky-Smith, Carla Reynolds and Sherry Sofia. Also elected to the City Commission were Jessica LaCosse in Ward 1, Jenasia Morris in Ward 2 and Patrick O’Donnell in Ward 3.
Scott Wolfersberger was elected as the Mayor of Marshall while Ryan Traver was elected as a member at large on the Marshall City Council.
President-elect Donald Trump carried Calhoun County by about 11,000 votes. Mike Rogers may have lost the U.S. Senate race but he won Calhoun County by about 9,500 votes.
