STURGIS (WKZO-AM/FM) — The Michigan State Police post in Marshall says a screwdriver-wielding man is jailed on charges of attempted car theft and trespassing after failing to steal a vehicle from a home in the 29000 block of U.S. 12 in Sturgis.
Investigators say the man asked the homeowner for a screwdriver at around 4 p.m. Tuesday, but was told to go away. He returned minutes later with screwdriver in hand, trying to start the 2001 Chrysler Sebring using the tool.
He fled toward Hillcrest Bar and Grill after being confronted. That where troopers found him.
Investigators say he was a new hire at the business.
Alcohol may have been a factor, according to a press release.
