KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Kalamazoo City Manager Jim Ritsema says his office has been getting a lot of calls from confused taxpayers.
He says the city has just mailed out tax assessments and residents are wondering what happened to the cuts underwritten by the Foundation for Excellence.
He says that won’t impact the valuation of homes which will be the same or a little higher.
He says the difference for many homeowners could be a few hundred dollars when the new lower rate of 12 mills is applied to that housing assessment, instead of over 19%.
He says those bills will be mailed later.
