STURGIS (WKZO-AM/FM) — Candles are being blamed for a weekend residential fire in Sturgis.
Crews were dispatched at about 7 p.m. Saturday to reports of a smoke-filled second-story bedroom.
They were able to confine the flames to that room.
The residents had already evacuated. Fire crews did rescue a pet rabbit from the bedroom.
It caused enough damage to make the home unlivable. The victims are being assisted by local aid agencies.
