KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Linebacker Robert Spillane is no longer a part of the football team at Western Michigan University.
“Linebacker Robert Spillane has requested and been granted his release,” the team said on Twitter. “We thank Robert for all his contributions as a Bronco.”
Spillaine made the interception in last season’s Mid-American Conference championship game that clinched victory for the Broncos. That win propelled Western to the Cotton Bowl.
The junior made 111 tackles in 14 games last season.
