ANGOLA, IN (WKZO AM/FM) – A 27-year-old Kalamazoo woman is facing charges in Indiana after being arrested Saturday in Angola.
Police say Journey Buchanan fled from them after she and two others stole two carts of merchandise from a Meijer store.
The three left the store with over $1,700 in goods, with most of it being liquor. Buchanan tried to drive away while the other two attempted to run away, but all were caught.
An Angola officer injured his arm when Buchanan drove off, as he was holding on to the vehicle and was treated at a hospital.
She was caught in Branch County after getting back in to Michigan after going 100-miles-an-hour during the chase. Buchanan was found with around $1,400 of merchandise that had been stolen from a Meijer in Hillsdale as well.
She is facing over 10 years in prison if convicted. 26-year-old Jade Smith, also from Kalamazoo, was arrested on a misdemeanor theft charge in the Meijer incident, while the third woman was not charged.
