KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo City Commission has cancelled plans for a weekend retreat to begin talking about the Foundation for Excellence.
They planned to get together Saturday morning and spend the day focusing on their major new funding initiative, but City Manager Jim Ritsema said they want the input of the public from the Imagine Kalamazoo 2025 project and a survey before deciding where to allocate dollars.
That information won’t be available for another few months.
The FFE will use money donated by a couple of local billionaires to get the city on its feet, and then the challenge will be to assemble a trust fund to continue supporting the city budget.
