KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Over $50,000 has been raised with the 2024 Kalamazoo County Walk to End Alzheimer’s over the weekend.
People walked in downtown Kalamazoo Saturday to raise money for education and awareness of the disease and to help fund finding a cure.
The Alzheimer’s Association says they are working to raise at least $100,000 by the end of the year and raised over $64,000 in 2023.
Participants planted a purple flower in Bronson Park if they lost a loved one to the disease and a white flower to represent a child born in a world that will not have to deal with Alzheimer’s due to a cure being found.
The Kalamazoo Promise, which covers up to 100% of the tuition and fees for a college education for Kalamazoo Public School graduates, was the presenting sponsor.
