LANSING (WKZO-AM/FM) — About 50 state lawmakers jumped into a portable swimming pool filled with frigid water yesterday, but it was for a good cause.
The annual legislative polar plunge, took place right in front of the State Capitol. Lt. Gov. Brian Calley, dressed in a tuxedo, served as the master of ceremonies, just before diving head first into the pool filled with frigid water.
One lawmaker dressed as Superman, four staffers came as the Ninja Turtles.
This particular fundraiser has raised over $140,000 for Special Olympics over the years. The plunges are held annually in larger communities all over the state.
