COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo County Deputy is nursing his injuries at home after he was involved in a near head-on collision in Comstock Township with a suspected drunk driver early Saturday morning.
State Police report that the Deputy was northbound on N. 33rd Street rushing to a report of a domestic assault in Cooper Township when his cruiser was struck by a 1979 Ford pickup just before 3 a.m.
The 23-year-old driver of the truck was traveling in the opposite direction on the two lane road when apparently crossed the centerline into the path of the cruiser.
Both men were taken to Bronson Emergency where they were treated and released.
The pick-up driver was then arrested for driving under the influence and booked into the Kalamazoo County Jail.
