KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The four-decade old tradition of a free Thanksgiving dinner at Theo & Stacy’s in downtown Kalamazoo is coming to an end, at least for this year.
The latest emergency order from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services banning indoor dining at restaurants for the next three weeks caused the interruption this year. Owner Stacy Skartsiaris tells WWMT-TV they have been serving between 1,800 and 2,400 meals each year on Thanksgiving day.
Instead of free Thanksgiving meals this year, Skartsiaris and her family plan to donate to local charities.
Theo & Stacy’s is still open for carryout or delivery orders.
