KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Suspected Kalamazoo-area mass-murderer Jason Dalton is scheduled to stand trial this spring.
The case has been assigned to Judge Alexander Lipsey. A hearing will be held on March 9 to hear motions for the suppression of evidence by the defense. The trial itself has now been set to begin with jury selection on June 13 if all goes as planned.
The trial is expected to take two weeks.
Dalton is expected to plead not guilty by reason of insanity for allegedly shooting eight people and killing six of them while he was offering rides to Uber customers in last February.
Nothing is set in stone. Trial was originally scheduled last fall. Delays often happen in court, so don’t be surprised if it gets pushed back again.
