PAW PAW, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Blue Star Mothers of America Southwest Michigan chapter is holding its 18th annual Support the Troops “Operation Holiday Cheer.”
President Laura De Roo says they mail boxes to soldiers that are full of Christmas stockings, letters, cards of support, hygiene items, games and more.
You can also email her at president.mi179@bluestarmothers.us with that information.
De Roo lost her son, Sergeant Gabriel De Roo on August 20, 2006. She says the idea to send items to the troops overseas happened immediately after the chapter was founded.
They are asking for donations including disposable razors, socks, tampons, greeting cards, pillow cases, microwave popcorn, hard candy but no chocolate, adult coloring books, comic books and more.
They can be dropped off at drop boxes at the Bangor Simpson United Methodist Church, Gobles United Methodist Church, Lawton Evangelical Church, and New Community Church in Lawton until November 5.
The boxes will be packed up at the Paw Paw Lions Club on Saturday, November 9.
