PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — Beginning today in Portage there is a new top-cop.
Actually new Public Safety Chief Nicholas Armold will not only be running the police operation, but the fire department as well.
Armold was hired from within, joining the force a few years ago as the second in command in the department, because he has previous experience administering both police and fire operations.
He was introduced to the Council after they formally accepted his appointment at their regular Tuesday night meeting.
He says he may be the new Chief in town, but he is happy with the way the department is structured now and plans no major changes.
He replaces Chief Richard White who just retired after 22-years with the Portage department earlier this month.
