BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A sharp-eyed Battle Creek Police Officer was headed down Capital Avenue when he spotted what he thought was an unclothed infant in the arms of a woman on a side street at about 1:30 yesterday afternoon.
He wheeled around onto Hamilton Lane and discovered a woman carrying a baby wearing only a diaper in the sub-freezing temperatures.
He also discovered the woman was barely coherent because she appeared to be intoxicated on drugs. Her boyfriend came along and he too was intoxicated.
They were both arrested for child neglect and the infant turned over to Child Protective Services.
