BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM/FM) — Police in Battle Creek have released the names of the two people who were killed when their plunged into the Kalamazoo River early Friday as 31-year-old Marcus Parsons and 30-year-old Deshauta Marshall
Investigators belive both Battle Creek natives died upon impact.
Police say their vehicle hit the bridge over Capital Avenue Southwest on Dickman Road and wound up in the river at about 4 a.m. It was the very same spot where another vehicle disappeared on March 4.
The vehicle was pulled from the water east of the Washington Street bridge about 90 minutes after it went into the water. Police said they have spoken with family members of the individuals inside the car.
Autopsies will be conducted over the next couple of days.
The department’s forensic crime lab is investigating the accident. The preliminary investigation indicates speed was a factor.
