KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Township police believe speed and alcohol played a role in a head-on collision on North Douglas Avenue that sent five people to the hospital late Sunday.
It happened at around 8 p.m. north of Barney Road.
Sgt. Steven Rickey said a 27-year-old Kalamazoo woman heading south on the two lane road, strayed over the center line and struck a northbound vehicle. Her SUV flipped on its side. She was ejected and was last reported in critical condition.
Two children in her SUV and two people in the other vehicle suffered mainly minor injuries.
The crash, investigation and clean-up closed the roadway for much of the evening.
