KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 38-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle in the downtown Kalamazoo late Tuesday night
At 11:19 p.m. Tuesday, officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to a report of a traffic crash involving a pedestrian near the intersection of East Kalamazoo Avenue and North Edwards Street.
They say Sarah Elizabeth Ballentine of Kalamazoo was walking in the roadway when she was struck.
Public safety officers and emergency personnel provided medical care at the scene and she was transported to a local hospital. She died from her injuries Wednesday.
KDPS says the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
