BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — Ex-con Jamie Perez has been charged with attempted murder and unlawful imprisonment for allegedly beating and choking his girlfriend as she tried to exit their relationship in Battle Creek.
The 39-year-old also allegedly set her phone on fire when she tried to move out of his place, in the 800 block of Capital Avenue N.E. in Battle Creek.
The 29-year-old victim said he had assaulted her before and she wanted out of the relationship. She went to his place to remove her belongings and she claims he attacked her.
She required treatment for a broken nose and a number of facial cuts. She managed to escape and call police. When officers arrived to arrest him, they found him hiding under a bed.
Because he is a repeat offender, he could get extra time in jail.
