BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — We told you about an apparent case of child abuse Thursday, a woman brought her 4-year-old son to Bronson Battle Creek Emergency, doctors took one look at his injuries and called police.
He had been nearly beaten to death. They say Maloyd Gaines is autistic, Doctors allegedly found bruises and injuries over a good portion of his body and the boy looked malnourished.
The boy’s mother, 23-year-old Megan Schug has been charged with 2nd degree child abuse, a ten-year felony, and a similar warrant was sworn out for her boyfriend, Isaac Miller who remains at large.
She is being held on $20,000 bond.
They could face additional and more severe charges if the boy, who is listed in critical condition, at the Bronson Pediatric ICU in Kalamazoo, doesn’t make it.
