KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo City Commission will consider beginning negotiations with the Michigan Department of Transportation to close three railway crossings at tonight’s meeting.
Those are at Water Street, Elm Street, and the Elm Crossover, which is between West Main Street and Kalamazoo Avenue.
The city says closing the railway crossings could generate $250,000 for each crossing along with additional funding from the federal government.
The payments are part of a program to help reduce the number of crossings by 25% across the country.
