KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo officials want to get the public’s thoughts about the redesign of Michigan Avenue from Michikal and West Main streets to Harrison Street.
The road is currently one-way and has been for decades, but that will change soon and be turned into a two-way route.
The city will hold a Kalamazoo Streets For All Community Open House tonight from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Epic Center on the Kalamazoo Mall.
More public meetings will be scheduled on the issue this fall, and the city will use the input to design the changes over the winter.
Other Streets For All projects that will start next year will also be discussed. Those include work on Kalamazoo Avenue, Douglas Avenue and West Main Street.
In addition to public-facing events like the open house, stakeholder meetings are being held with business owners, delivery drivers, landowners and other downtown stakeholders to gather additional information based on their unique interests.
