UNDATED (WKZO-AM/FM) — Western Michigan University head hockey coach Andy Murray is a finalist for the 2017 Spencer Penrose Award.
The honor is given annually to the national coach of the year in college hockey, according to a press release from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.
Murray is joined by fellow NCHC coaches Jim Montgomery of Denver University and Scott Sandelin of Minnesota-Duluth.
Murray piloted the Broncos to a 22-13-5 record in 2016-17. The season ended with an NCAA tournament appearance for the Broncos.
